IRAN : THE FIRE DAY DIDN’T TURN GREEN !
17.03.2010

The Fire Day is the yearly appointment of the regime’s adversaries. It took place yesterday night. The Iranian bureau of the AFP reported that the mobilization was very low further to a request Mussavi made. This is wrong. According to every eyewitness account, participation was much important not only in Tehran but also in the regions. Moreover there was no reference at all to the Green Movement. | Decoding in images |

Since several millenaries, according to Zoroastrian rite, the day before the last Wednesday of the year, Iranians and all those who were influenced by their civilization party all night by lighting woodsheds in order to jump over them and purify their soul. This is named “Tchahar Chanbeh Suri” or day of the Wednesday’s eve. Such colourful night is also marked by firecrackers’ sound. This day has been forbidden as well by the mullahs since the Islamic Revolution because they link pre-Islamic civilizations with the ignorance era. This was enough to make this day become the resistance’s yearly appointment against the regime and against Islam which are considered as occupation force.

This year, our compatriots had a problem since the Green Movement, a false pro-Khomeini opposition, which doesn’t manage to mobilize people under the Islamic banner, campaigned for a month for a Green “Tchahar Chanbeh Suri” in order to appropriate pople’s presence in the streets.

In such campaign, the Green Movement encouraged participants to wear green outfits or to tie up a green bracelet to their wrist. It was also specified that instead of gathering among neighbours, people should gather in precise places and burn portraits of Khamenei. It was also recommended to replace the traditional phrase which is told while jumping over the fire by Green slogans such as “Allah Akbar” or even “death to Khamenei”, a slogan which doesn’t mean under no circumstances “death to the Islamic Republic”.

Despite the great number of pro-Green media, Iranians once again didn’t pay attention to such calls : according to the tradition, they came down to their suburbs streets, they put some loud music and danced in the street, boys and girls together, as if it was a real slap in the face for the mullahs and their green clones. Actually, with the deafening firecrackers and the loud music, Iranians thought they would thwart the regime which adds its pre-registered slogans to the images of any gatherings that are hostile to it.

Thus our compatriots believed they would win the game, i.e. gathering against the regime and without any reference to the Green Movement. However, it’s necessary to admit they were wrong because so to modify those gatherings on which it was impossible to add any slogan, the regime changed its approach. Firstly, it closed the Web for 3 hours in order to prevent any images from being broadcasted while it is much careful not to do so whenever its Green Movement’s professional demontrators make an exhibition of themselves. During those 3 hours, it modified the colour of the videos -whose sound is impossible to change- in order to make the atmosphere green. Consequently, in this delirious scene which was filmed in the East of Tehran, we may believe that people wear green outfits but at the end of the video, the guy’s green shirt turns blue and then white. We can also notice a head which became entirely green !

On this video which was filmed in Karaj, images appear green as well. However the sound became inaudible and this implies that some unconventional words were pronounced. In both cases, those images which are initially anonymous -and we can guess why- were tagged -Freedom Messenger, INA…- in order to be taken over by the Green Movement.

During this 3 hour delay, the regime recuperated videos by lowering the sound or even by cutting the music in order to add its green slogans. But as we may notice it on those both videos from Tehran, such choice doesn’t appear relevant because people don’t show any hostile posture -they sing or they dance.

After this round of recuperated and modified images, we received other images which appeared much different in purest style of the Green Movement : i.e. with a clear sound of green slogans that implies there was a great Green crowd but with hazy, disjointed or unaligned images in order to hide the fact that people weren’t numerous. Few weeks ago, the trend was to film at buttock level. Yesterday night, the trend was to film the sky or to record blurred images. If we consider the sound itself, we found back the off voices that account for such hazy scenes and it was also the same voices we heard on videos that were filmed on the last autumn.

Fortunately, some people kept their videos so to send them later. Thus their movies avoided the regime’s modifications such as those ones in Anzali -Bandar Pahlavi- and in Tabriz. They arrive at the right moment to contradict the version of the AFP-Iran.
